- Grasses, lambsquarter, chickweed, pigweed, thistle, and creeping Charlie are the most common weeds we deal with. We don't use any herbicides and do our weeding by hand. We also use plastic mulch in areas where the plants are in the field for an extended amount of time.
- Describe your primary insect challenges AND methods of control. Do not answer "none". You MUST indicate either actual pest challenges and/or LIKELY challenges, and you must ALSO indicate how you manage (or would manage) them. If you indicate a product, also specify how often it's used. *
- Cabbage worms and squash bugs are the two most common on our farm. We occasionally have aphids, grasshoppers, flea beetles, and Japanese beetles but not to where they cause a huge problem. We use agri-bon to cover the brassicas but occasionally use BT for cabbage worms. We've used Azatrol and Pyrethrin for control in the past as well. We use them as needed when we feel the insects are out of control and causing more damage than anticipated.

- Powdery mildew and downy mildew are two diseases we've had in past along with root rot and blossom-end rot. The mildews were treated by changing seeds. Changes with our soil nutrients and composting have helped with the root rot and tomato blossom-end rot.

For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
- The property has three sides with roads lined with trees on two sides and the third side is next to prairie land and woods. The neighbor across the street grows corn but is between a road, two sets of trees and is about 100+ yards from our property.
