Describe your primary weed problems AND methods of control. Do not answer "none". You MUST indicate either actual weed challenges and/or LIKELY challenges, and you must ALSO indicate how you manage (or would manage) them. If you indicate a product, also specify how often it's used. *
mostly golden rod and regular grass. we cut the fields several times a year so most of the golden rod never goes to seed, this keeps alot of it under control. our only other problem is with grass, we deal with it by weeding by hand every other week, this combined with very heavy mulching of hay keeps weeds from being much of a problem.
Describe your primary insect challenges AND methods of control. Do not answer "none". You MUST indicate either actual pest challenges and/or LIKELY challenges, and you must ALSO indicate how you manage (or would manage) them. If you indicate a product, also specify how often it's used. *
we have not had any insect challenges yet. we only grow garlic and for the most part it seems to be pest resistant. we have heard of mites infesting garlic and that the problem can be controlled by field rotation. we have also heard of nematoads in garlic, in that case we would use a hot water bath to treat the cloves that we would be replanting the next year.
Describe your primary disease challenges AND methods of control. Do not answer "none". You MUST indicate either actual disease challenges and/or LIKELY challenges, and you must ALSO indicate how you manage (or would manage) them. If you indicate a product, also specify how often it's used. *
we have not had any disease problems and and wouldn't know what to expect. we only grow garlic and have been doing so for 7 vears without any disease. we have had mold but we solved that problem by timing the harvest depending on how wet/dry the summer is.
Please list the water source you use for crop irrigation. If source is public river, pond or lake, please note the name: *
we do not do crop irrigation, only rain water
Are there any known contaminants in the irrigation water? *

yes
If they're not grown according to CNG methods, please list them here. This produce may not be sold as Certified Naturally Grown. (If they are, put "N/A") *
we grow garlic, some of the cloves from this years harvest are used as seed for the next year
Do you purchase any transplants from outside sources? *
no
Chemical/Spray Drift and Buffers:
Is there any likelihood of Chemical/Spray drift contamination of your fields? *
no
Do you have an adequate buffer to protect yourself from potential contamination? *
yes
Please describe your buffer. Be as specific as possible. On all sides, how far is it from your crops to the next closest use (road, conventional crop, residential yard)? Be sure to specify what is grown on neighboring land that is in agricultural use. For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
our garlic field is located uphill 110 yards from a road to the south, a neighbors house is 65 yards down hill to the west, no crops are grown there. our land boarders the field for at least 200 yards in every other direction, it is mostly woodland with no crops grown.

Agreements

Please indicate your agreement with the following statements by checking the boxes.
I will not label, or in any way lead consumers to believe that produce not raised in accord with CNG standards is Certified Naturally GrownTM. *
I understand that I have to complete at least one (and hopefully more) Certification Inspection(s) of another farm in my area each year, and that the inspection will NOT be of the same farmer that inspected me. *
I have reviewed the Certified Naturally Grown certification standards, I understand them, and I will abide by them. I understand that if I have any questions I may contact CNG for clarification. *
You may use this space to tell us anything else you think we should know about your farm:
we are a small garlic farm that is located on 50 acres of land, 40 acres of this land are woods and left to a natural state. of the 10 acres that are fields we use about 4 acres fo hay that we mulch the garlic with. the garlic is grown on a small plot that is less than an acre in size, however we would like to expand this a little in the future. we chose garlic because it does not require any fencing and it allows us to produce a crop with not chemicals and little intervention aside from weeding. I can be reached anytime on my cell phone (914)629-5555 and would be happy to answer any questions or to discuss the operations on the farm
