The Certified Naturally Grown program is important to me because of the best practices supported and encouraged. We are fifth generation farmers on the land passed down over the past 165 years. It is very important we protect the soil, insects, produce so that the next generation can benefit from our conscientious farming practices.

Lambsquarters, pigweed,crabgrass,chickweed,purslane,nutsedge. I use mulch over them with straw, plant cover crop, pull by hand and hoe.

My main crop is heirloom tomatoes so I deal with Early Blight, septoria leaf spot.I remove diseased leaves as soon as possible and spray with copper. I use black plastic mulch under tomato plants. I remove the black plastic annually.

Please describe your buffer. Be as specific as possible. On all sides, how far is it from your crops to the next closest use (road, conventional crop, residential yard)? Be sure to specify what is grown on neighboring land that is in agricultural use. For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
We do not have any other crops growing on neighboring land within half a mile. Our buffer is grass.
