Primary weed problems are Johnson, Bermuda, henbit, and fescue. I manage by using mulch and hoeing the beds. If Bermuda or Johnson problem persists then silage tarp is used.

Main pests are crickets, cabbage looper, harlequin bug, and aphids. Most are managed by row cover, harlequins are hand picked, bt is used if cabbage loopers take over. Bt might be used once a week depending on crop and infestation.

Likely diseases are blight and some root rot from saturated soil. Currently am fighting diseases by giving plants more spacing. Would like to have high tunnels in future to help with disease

Please describe your buffer. Be as specific as possible. On all sides, how far is it from your crops to the next closest use (road, conventional crop, residential yard)? Be sure to specify what is grown on neighboring land that is in agricultural use. For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
Vacant land to the north. Open pasture to the south and east. Each get mowed once a year and is the extent of activity on adjacent lands. County road to the west is about 25 feet, with a buffer in between made up of small trees, and overgrowth of different kinds of plants and a deer fence. Have a trench dug the length of the beds that might divert and possible run off.
