Patchwork Family Farm LLC
Copper Hill, Virginia
Our patch of ground is on the edge of the Blue Ridge escarpment spanning Franklin and Floyd Counties where "homegrown" food has deep roots. Since 2009, the farm has focused on organic production methods to grow nutrient-dense, flavorful food for our community. Crop specialties include custom salad blends, greens, tomatoes and culinary herbs. We enjoy sharing the challenges and abundance of small scale farming as part of the larger movement of cultural nourishment.
We are stewards of mountaintop soils. Our organic systems emphasize living soil, low and no-till growing methods, seed choices and season extension. The farm has four high tunnels that we rotate crops through to extend the season at "the shoulders". These tunnels are essential to providing protection from excessive moisture, cold, wind and ice. Each season brings us closer to a regenerative farming system teeming with life both above and below ground.
Before we had our own farm we aspired to be part of the CNG community because of its commitment to grassroots healthy food systems. CNG is an asset to our farm and provides many benefits beyond a certificate representing our growing practices.
