To avoid most bugs we grow crops under low and high tunnels, we also get a jump start on crops before the bug pressure is too high enters these tunnels. We grow many crops with companions and over plan to be sure there is ample crops, both for market and some for the bugs. Spinosad is used only when we have a infestation of Blister beetle (once every few seasons).

Early Blight on tomatoes is a primary challenge. We use a heavy layer of wheat straw under tomatoes to keep rain from splash up on to the plants. We also plant waves of tomatoes to ensure plenty of back up.

Please describe your buffer. Be as specific as possible. On all sides, how far is it from your crops to the next closest use (road, conventional crop, residential yard)? Be sure to specify what is grown on neighboring land that is in agricultural use. For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
To the North is a 40 acre plot used for cow grazing. To the West is a 40 acre lot that is a private residence with no agriculture. To the East is a 4 acres private residence with no agriculture. To the South is a 3 acre private residence with no agriculture.
